2004 AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL PLUMBING FORUM

This important Forum was held in Perth, Western Australia on 3 and 4 September 2004 as part of the Institute of Plumbing Australia's 50th Anniversary celebrations.

The Forum was attended by delegates from all Australian States and also from many Countries of the world.  Speakers to the Forum included:

Mr Russ Chaney, Executive Director of The IAPMO Group and a Director of the World Plumbing Council.  Mr Chaney spoke on Health and Plumbing, some insights into the outcomes of worldwide discussions stemming from the SARS epidemic and the proved connection with plumbing systems.

Dr Jim Gill, Chief Executive Officer Water Corporation of Western Australia.  Dr Gill spoke on Perth's Water Future - Security Through Diversity.

Commissioner Michael Kefford, Chair of the National Plumbing Regulators Forum provided delegates with a thought provoking address on why we regulate plumbing and plumbers and a strong case for a more National approach to regulators and regulations followed by Mr John McBride, Plumbing Industry Commission of Victoria who introduced the new Plumbing Code of Australia.

Mr Graeme Perry, PIC/Australian National Training Authority gave a short history on the development of the New National Training Packages and then went on to explain the current progress to acceptance of these National Competencies.
